The injury took place today during the first round match All England Club against her component Aliaskandra Sasnovich.

Despite her 3-1 lead within the first set, Serena suddenly slipped and hurt herself during a return reports CNN Sport .

She obtained medial attention and returned to the court shortly tying with a 3-3 but unfortunately Serena’s leg appeared to buckle causing her to forfeit and walk off the court in tears while acknowledging her fans.

“I was heartbroken to have to withdraw today after injuring my right leg,” said Serena within an Instagram post. “My love and gratitude are with the fans and the team who make being on centre court so meaningful.

Sources have confirmed that this is the very first time in Serena ‘s career that she loss first round at Wimbledon. She says she was hopeful to secure her 24th grand slam.
