The popular Mexican grill franchise of Chipotle have announced a recent 4% raise in menu prices to help their employees receive $15 an hour in wages!

The announcement was officially made in May and will become fully effective towards the end of June reports NBC News.

Sources have confirmed that the wage change was made in efforts of attracting new employees as the restaurant industry is currently facing a high demand in supply but lack of manpower due to the pandemic.

“It feels like the right thing, at the right time, and it feels like the industry is now going to have to either do something similar or play some kind of catch-up,” CFO Jack Hartung said at the virtual conference. “Otherwise you’ll just lose the staffing gain.”

Reports read that the restaurant industry is also facing a price hike in ingredients as well at this time following an increase in customers recently.
