Saweetie States She Had PTSD Following Hot 97 Interview And Freestyle!

Cousins!

Throughout her career Saweetie has always been transparent of her journey as a musician and how she’s turned negative turning points in her life to positive ones!

Within the April issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, Saweetie reflected on a 2018 Freestyle for Hot 97 that haunts her to this day.

“It was a really dark point in my life. I went from being so loved so quickly because of ‘Icy Grl’ to, on my first promo run, well, you saw the interview. The script flipped really quick, like night and day. I was like, Wait…” she recalled. “I had PTSD from that,” says Saweetie.

Within the 2018 clip Saweetie confidently stated that despite everyone’s beliefs, she wasn’t just making music because of her follower count on social media but that she was a real artist that can actually rap.

She then proceeded to bust a quick freestyle rap for Hot 97’s radio show hosts Ebro Darden, Laura Stylez, and Peter Rosenberg.

Following the freestyle Ebro stated, “I just thought the raps was basic,” Darden told Saweetie as she asked for his opinion. “I think you need to get sharper on your diction, your clarity, and your content if you’re going to impress me.”

Though Saweetie kept a positive attitude with her game face on, the freestyle went viral as social media users chimed in with less than friendly comments.
