Following the one year anniversary of Georgia resident Ahmaud Arbery’s death, his mother remains at the forefront fighting for justice as she has recently filed a federal lawsuit against the men responsible for his murder!

Wanda Cooper-Jones has forwarded a wrongful death lawsuit within the U.S District Court of the Southern District of Georgia on Tuesday reports ABC News.

Sources have confirmed that the the lawsuit identifies George McMichael, 64 his son Travis McMicahel, 34 and their neighbor William ‘ Roddie’ Bryan alongside former Glynn County Police Chief John Powell, former Glynn County District Attorney Jackie Johnson, Waycross Judicial Circuit District Attorney George Barnhill and several Glynn County police officers.

“Justice for this family looks like going after the system that justified it, that allowed these men (the McMichaels and Bryan) to run free for months, that failed to prosecute properly, that offered racist explanations or why the shooting was justified,” states Wanda’s attorney Lee Merritt told ABC News.

“That’s George Barnhill, Jackie Johnson, the entire Glynn County PD. Miss Cooper is a fighter, and she’s instructed us to take no stops on the road to justice.”

Court documents read that the suit alleges the father and son duo including Bryan were, “entrusted by local law enforcement to respond to recent trespasses,” within the Satilla Shores area located in the Brunswick, Georgia area.

As we previously reported Ahmaud was chased down, shot and killed while jogging within his neighborhood.

Travis and Gregory have been charged with murder and aggravated assault along with Bryan who has been charged with felony murder and criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment. All three men have pleaded not guilty and are scheduled for trial later this year.

Wanda is seeking $ 1 million dollars in damages.
