The groundbreaking announcement was made on Tuesday night by the Recording Industry Association of America ( RIAA ) stating that the album sold nearly 10,000,000 units since its original 1998 release.
Reports reads that diamond status for an album within this day and age of streaming is almost impossible.
Sources have confirmed that Lauryn has now joined the exclusive list of artists that have earned diamond certified albums such as Michael Jackson’s Thriller, 2Pac’s All Eyez On Me , Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP, and Britney Spears Baby One Time.
The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is one of the most celebrated albums from the 90s era. Consisting of hit singles such as Doo Wop ( That Thing), Everything is Everything, Ex-Factor, To Zion, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You and features from Mary J. Blige, D’Angelo, and Carlos Santana.
The album went to earn 10 Grammy award nominations and wins for, Album of the Year, Best R&B Album, and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for “Doo Wop (That Thing).
