A Dallas family has been left with a broken heart as they’ve spent the majority of their year searching for answers following the horrific murder of their loved one reportedly robbed and murdered after being lured to Houston within a fake online relationship!
The family of Deonte Hicks, 27 has come forward to state they believe he was catfished and tricked into traveling from Dallas to Houston by an unidentified person through a fake online love connection reports CBS.
Reports read that Deonte was murdered in the month of May, however his family states that his story never made headlines due to Houston officials lack of attentiveness.
Officials state that the incident took place within the 1000 block of Centre Parkway as Deonte stood outside his car. It has been indicated that two unidentified suspects were seen running away from the scene at the time of Deonte’s murder.
Sources have confirmed that Deonte’s family has come forward providing further details that he had traveled from Dallas to Houston to spend the weekend with the woman he met online.
Devonte’s family traveled to Houston on November 20th alongside community activist Quanell X as they call for action from police officials.
“It has not been a top priority… my family and I, we’ve gone to Houston headquarters to talk to detectives. I’ve called a million times… nothing has been done,” said Deonte’s aunt, Tamara Peterson.
“We have to mobilize. We have to get busy. We have to raise our voices…. we gotta stop making excuses,” states Quanell X.
