Dinkins, 93 passed away within his home located in the upper east side area of Manhattan, New York City on Monday night; reports CNN.
Sources have confirmed that officials were contacted Monday evening from Dinkins home that he was unconscious and having complications breathing.
Dinkins leaves behind an impactful history of utilizing his platform to speak out against societal issues and race equality.
Chirlane and I are mourning a truly great man. David Dinkins simply set this city on a better path.
