Video of a #Chicago house party is currently making its rounds on multiple social media platforms as it appears to be hundreds of people jam packed in one room directly going against social distance regulations at this time!
According to WGN9 News, the video was originally posted to Facebook by Tink Purcell. The video shows a Saturday gathering with a room full of people from the wall to the steps standing and sitting shoulder to shoulder while listening to music. Within the video there aren’t any party goers shown wearing a mask or even gloves.
Reports confirm that Chicago officials have been notified of the video but haven’t been able to pinpoint the exact location of the gathering. It has been stated that party took place within the Southside area of Chicago.
Officials released a statement Sunday afternoon indicating that,
We are aware of a video circulating on social media depicting a large house party inside of an alleged Chicago residence. While we cannot authenticate the nature or location of the gathering, we want to remind everyone of the social distancing requirements in place. CPD will disperse crowds in violation of social distancing requirements, and if necessary, issue citations or as a last resort, enforce via arrest.”
The video currently succeed over a million views and 60,000 shares ultimately being brought to the attention of Illinois Governor JB Pritzker. He has since come forward to warn partygoers of their dangerous and hazardous actions,
“You’re literally putting everyone around you in danger, you are, they are putting you in danger, and very importantly, all of those people are putting their families and their friends who are not there with them in danger.”
There are currently over 15,000 cases of COVID19 within the city of Chicago alone with 50% of the Coronavirus related deaths belonging to Black people.
