Not again..
Steve Harvey has successfully hosted the Miss Universe contest for the last five years straights. Throughout those consecutive years he has witnessed historic life changing moments for many of the contestants and one in particular for himself. A moment social media will never forget and the teleprompter engineer won’t seem to let Harvey live down!
According to USA TODAY; a mix up of some sort took place last night during the 2019 Miss Universe competition. It has been indicated that a teleprompter issue occurred while Harvey was in the midst of revealing the official winner of the national costume contest. Though a photo of Miss Philippines Gazini Ganados in costume had declared her the winner, Harvey was informed that the winner was instead Miss Malaysia, Shweta Sekhon.
Becoming embarrassed and frustrated by the honest mistake Harvey quickly addressed the issue. “Let me explain something to you. I just read that in the teleprompter. Y’all got to quit doing this to me. I can read. … Now, they are trying to fix it now. See? This is what they did to me back in 2015 – played me short like that.”
Sources have confirmed that the Miss Universe Organization publicly apologized for the mix up; indicating that there was an error that had occurred and Harvey was actually correct.
“Voted BEST National Costume… Malaysia!” read a tweet from the organization’s twitter account during the live tapping of the show. “ @IAmSteveHarvey had it right: Miss Universe Philippines Gazini Ganados is the winner of the #MissUniverse2019 National Costume competition! Congratulations, Gazini.”
Give Steve a break y’all!
