Big Sean kicked the holiday season off in a major way; successfully hosting his seventh annual Thanksgiving drive within his home town of Detroit!
According to the Rap -Up ; the annual Allstar giveback took place on Tuesday Nov. 26 in River Rouge, Michigan.
Sean alongside his mom Myra paired up with multiple Detroit natives such as retired NBA Hall of Famer Gary Payton, legendary Boxer Tommy “Hitman” Hearns, rapper Sada Baby, and actress Leah Jeffries. Together they passed out turkeys, canned goods and other Thanksgiving essentials to over 5,000 people in need.
Sean’s praises his mother and late grandmother for teaching him the value and importance of giving back.
“They definitely encouraged me to always give back, always be charitable.”
“Detroit and my community have given me so much that it’s the least we could do,” Sean tells local news. “That’s the whole point of it is to just raise the awareness for people ’cause it doesn’t take much to help at all.”
