#Cousins ; Disney-Pixar has recently created history of their own with the official trailer debut for their first black led animated film titled Soul!
The film is set to star comedian, songwriter and actor Jamie Foxx who portrays the role of Joe Gardner a middle school ban teacher. Gardner has dreams of taking his talents to the next level and pursing a career in music as a full time Jazz player.
Unfortunately as things begin to look up, a tragic accident takes place and changes his world forever. Garner dies after falling into a manhole; the film then depicts him transitioning into the afterlife as just his soul. He also meets another soul named 22 played by Tina Fey who looks at life completely different now after enduring her own traumatic experience.
Peter Docter and Kemp Powers have been named as the films directors. Soul is at to feature a Jazz soundtrack from Jon Batiste and Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross reports io9. The film is also backed by the minds behind Pixar’s Coco and Inside Out.
“The instant he was born, he already had a personality,” states Docter. “Where did that come from? I thought your personality developed through your interaction with the world. And yet, it was pretty clear that we’re all born with a very unique, specific sense of who we are.”
Soul is set to debut in theaters June. 19th, 2020 with the underlying question to viewers, ” What do you want to be remembered for?”
