Texas Resident Shot And Killed In Her Home By Fort Worth Police Officials.

#AtatianaJefferson ,28 was murdered within her own home located on Fort Worth, Texas Saturday evening while baby sitting her eight year old nephew; according to #CbsNews. Sources have confirmed that a neighbor had dialed 911 when he saw the front door to Jefferson’s home was left open at 2:25 am. Responding officers have stated that they saw someone near a window upon their arrival. Forth Worth officer #AaronDean drew his weapon after quickly evaluating the situation as a “perceived threat,’ he then shot and killed Jefferson.

Officials have released body camera footage from the night in question. The family’s attorney Lee Merritt states after viewing the footage he that the Officer acted quickly and didn’t have time to perceive Jefferson as a threat.

“ You didn’t hear the officer shout, Gun! Gun! Gun!’ “

“ He didn’t have time to perceive a threat, That’s murder!’

Within the body camera footage it shows two officers scoping Jefferson’s home from outside with torches and then an officer shouting, “ Put your hands up. Show me your hands.’“ A single shot is fired and neither officer ever identified themselves as being police. Jefferson died within her home due to the gun shot wound she endured.

Dean was primarily sent out on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation. However Dean has come forward to resign after catching wind of a possible termination. Shortly after that he was arrested and charged with the murder of Jefferson. He has since been released on a $200,000 as of late Monday night.

“The family of Atatiana Jefferson is relieved that Aaron Dean has been arrested & charged with murder,” family attorney Lee Merritt state’s on Twitter. “We need to see this through to a vigorous prosecution & appropriate sentencing. The City of Fort Worth has much work to do to reform a brutal culture of policing.”

Police chief Edwin Kraus held a press conference Monday afternoon to announce that they had plans of firing Dean due violating department policies and unlawful use of force.

“Nobody looked at that video and said there’s any doubt this officer acted inappropriately,” Kraus states. “I get it. We’re trying to train our officers better, we’re trying to shore up our policies, trying to ensure they act and react the way the citizens intend them to – that they act and react with a servant’s heart, instead of a warrior’s heart.”
