Its has been a long and treacherous road; but justice if finally being served or shall we say some what served? The horrifiing story of #CynotiaBrown has swept the nation for over a decade. Leaving many of us in deep thought as to why a victim of both prostitution and sex trafficking at an exceedingly young age, was placed in jail under a lifetime sentence for a crime that should’ve been deemed needs for survival?
According to #CNN Brown has officially been granted clemency by the the governor of #Tennessee Bill Haslam, on Jan.7th . After serving 15 years in prison for the murder of a man who solicited her for sex at the age of sixteen. Brown is scheduled for release on Aug. 7, 2019 as “ time served “ and ten years of parole. Haslam issues a forwarded statement : “This decision comes after careful consideration of what is a tragic and complex case. “ Concluding that charging a lifetime sentence to a minor is terribly harsh.
Though we all may have mixed feelings upon the casualties of her release, we all can agree that we are extremely happy that this woman is finally free!
