Noir Nation, it looks like the story of The Best Man may not be over just yet!
During this year’s ViewerCon “Future of Storytelling” panel, Taye Diggs was asked whether he believes there is still more story to tell from the beloved franchise — and his answer gave fans hope for another reunion.
Originally released in 1999, The Best Man has grown into a cultural classic, expanding into The Best Man Holiday and the Peacock limited series The Best Man: The Final Chapters. Nearly three decades later, fans are still holding on to the iconic friendships, relationships, and unforgettable moments that made the franchise a favorite.
“I’m going to manifest it and say yes. I will work with those actors and director until the wheels come off,” Diggs shared.
While praising director Malcolm D. Lee’s creativity and future projects, Diggs acknowledged that Lee may want to focus his energy on new stories. However, he believes the bond between the cast remains strong and there is still a desire to return.
“I know the director is terribly talented, Malcolm D. Lee. He has so much that he wants to put out there, and I understand that he might want to put his energy somewhere else,” Diggs said. “But I think he knows we are all dying to work with each other again.”
The star-studded cast, including Nia Long, Morris Chestnut, Terrence Howard, Regina Hall, Melissa De Sousa, Sanaa Lathan, and Harold Perrineau has remained one of the franchise’s biggest draws, leaving fans wondering if another chapter could eventually bring the crew back together.
For now, Taye Diggs is making it clear: the door is still open.
