Noir Nation, this one hits different! Apparently the BET+ era as we know it is officially coming to a close!
According to Deadline, Paramount Global has bought out Tyler Perry’s stake in BET+ and is planning to merge the platform into Paramount+.
📺 What This Means for Black Content
Before we all panic, it has been confirmed that their content isn’t going anywhere. All of BET+’s original series, movies and exclusive shows will now live under a dedicated BET hub on Paramount+.
The scheduled merge promises to provide accessibility and one central place to stream Black-centered content without juggling multiple subscriptions.
Also suggesting that convenience might be a win.
🔄 Transition Timeline & What to Expect
Sources say the transition is set to begin this summer, with current subscribers receiving step-by-step instructions on how to make the switch smoothly.
Thankfully, subscribers won’t just wake up one day locked out, it’s expected to be a guided transition.
🤔 Bigger Picture: Win or Loss?
This move raises real questions about ownership, control, and the future of Black platforms. While the content remains, the shift in who owns and operates the space is definitely something to watch.
• Smh this is unfortunate because paramount is horrible in terms of streaming quality. It be freezing and loading
•Keep it separate. They’re gonna censor our shows so much to the point we stop watching.
• We can’t have sh*t on our own
💬 Noir Nation
In your honest opinion, is this a smart evolution… or the end of something we should’ve held onto a little tighter for the culture?
