Over A Dozen Injured And Two Deceased After Mexican Navy Sailboat Collides With Brooklyn Bridge!

Noir Nation, things got real chaotic in NYC! Nearly 20 people were left injured after a Mexican Navy sailboat slammed into the Brooklyn Bridge during what was supposed to be a routine goodwill training exercise!

According to ABC News, the vessel — identified as the ARM Cuauhtémoc — was docked in the city as part of an international relations tour. But during a maneuver gone wrong, the ship collided with the underside of the bridge, resulting in injuries to sailors due to the impact of the sailboat striking the bridge.

Emergency services were quick to respond, and several victims were transported to local hospitals. Sources state that the said sailboat carried 277 people onboard as it crashed into the bridge Saturday evening around 8:30PM EST. The New York Police Department confirms that 19 people were injured and four people were seriously hurt.

Authorities say the accident was likely caused by a navigation miscalculation, though a full investigation is currently underway.

As of early Sunday morning (May 18th) Mayor Eric Adams confirmed that two people were dead following the crash and two other remain in critical condition.”

“Earlier tonight, the Mexican Navy tall ship Cuauhtémoc lost power and crashed into the Brooklyn Bridge,” reads Mayor Adam’s tweet.

“At this time, of the 277 on board, 19 sustained injuries, 2 of which remain in critical condition, and 2 more have sadly passed away from their injuries.”

“We are praying for everyone on board and their families and are grateful to our first responders who quickly jumped into action, ensuring this accident wasn’t much worse.”
