The 39 year old was found unresponsive within her New York City apartment near Columbus Circle early Wednesday morning (February 26 ) around 8AM, reports ABC News.
The New York Police Department confirmed on Wednesday that officials responded to a 911 call at 1 Columbus Place in New York City around 8 a.m, reports PEOPLE.
Sources state that authorities expect no foul play as Michelle had recently undergone surgery on her liver and may have been experiencing complications.
“Upon arrival, officers observed a 39-year-old female unconscious and unresponsive. EMS responded to the location and pronounced the victim deceased,” said police, adding, “Criminality is not suspected.”
An active investigation is underway reports the New York Post.
“Her natural ebullient nature was ratcheted up into giddiness as she tried to learn how to handle all that came with that. She was a very charming little girl,” said fellow actress and former ‘Harriet The Spy,’ cast member J. Smith-Cameron.
“Years later we found each other on social media and connected briefly. She was always very warm toward me. I feel very shocked and unsettled to hear of her passing.”
Michelle leaves behind an extensive legacy in both television and film expanding over the last two decades. She is well known for her roles in late 90s-2000s projects such as ‘Harriet The Spy’ , Dawn Summers in ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ , her role as Georgina Sparks in ‘Gossip Girl’ and more.
