Students and faculty members of Mississippi Valley State University (MSVU) are mourning the death of junior linebacker Ryan Quinney following a tragic car crash that claimed his life!
According to reports from WAPT, the twenty-year-old MVSU linebacker was involved in a car chase with Mississippi Highway Patrol on Friday, November 8th.
Sources state that Ryan had attempted to get away from patrol while driving at full speed. He is said to have lost control of his vehicle and drove through a ditch where he struck another car.
Yahoo County Corner Ricky Shivers says that Ryan’s car flipped a total of several times. He was pronounced dead at the scene before being airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
“We are heartbroken to share that our beloved student, Ryan Quinney, tragically lost his life in a car accident last night. Ryan was a bright light in our community with a spirit that lifted everyone around him. He will be deeply missed by his friends, faculty, and all who knew him,” reads a post from MVSU on Facebook.
“During this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Ryan’s family and loved ones,” the post continues.
“Please keep them, along with his friends and classmates, in your thoughts and prayers. Let us remember Ryan’s impact on our lives and honor his memory by supporting each other through this loss.”
Ryan’s tragic death took place the night before MSVU’s big game against Jackson State reports Blavity.
The beloved football player was honored by MSVU and Jackson State’s team captains on the field at the start of the game. MSVU also took a delay-of-game penalty in Ryan’s name.
