New York City Mayor Eric Adams has found himself in a tangled web this morning following reports that he is currently facing a 57-page indictment for allegedly pocketing 10 million dollars in illegal campaign contributions, bribes, wire fraud, and more!

According to CNN, Adams is being accused of accepting hefty amounts of cash in exchange for favors such as free flights and additional perks from foreign national leaders. It has been indicated that the 64-year-old has spent the last decade of his career participating in and exhibiting patterns of corruption.

Sources state that Adams has made history as the first sitting New York City mayor to ever face a five-count federal public indictment.

“For nearly a decade, Adams sought and accepted improper valuable benefits, such as luxury international travel, including from wealthy foreign businesspeople and at least one Turkish government official seeking to gain influence over him,” the indictment reads.

“Specifically, Adams received luxury travel and other benefits from a Turkish official and later in exchange pressured the NYC Fire Department to open a Turkish consular building without a fire inspection,” the indictment continues.

The US attorney for the Southern District of New York Damian Williams alleges that the participated in a long time conspiracy operation.

“Mayor Adams took these contributions even though he knew they were illegal,” Williams said. “He knew these contributions were attempts by a Turkish government official and Turkish businessmen to buy influence with him.”

In response Mayor Adams asked “wait to hear our defense before making any judgments,” he also says that he wasn’t surprised by the charges.

“I look forward to defending myself and defending the people of this city as I’ve done throughout my entire professional career,” Adams said.
