Kobe Bryant’s Dad Joe ‘Jellybean’ Bryant Has Passed Away Following Massive Stroke!

Cousins! Please join us in extending our deepest condolences to the entire Bryant family following reports that former NBA athlete Joe ‘Jellybean’ Bryant has passed away!

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Joe passed away after suffering a massive heart attack. The 69-year-old is said to have been dealing with non-disclosed health issues prior to his death.

Throughout his life, Joe has been recognized as being the father to NBA hall of famer Kobe Bryant. However, he is also known for his career in basketball after playing multiple seasons and establishing a legacy in the league working as a head coach.

According to ESPN, Joe played eight seasons successfully in the NBA with the Sixers, Clippers, and Rockets. He is said to have averaged 8.7 points and 4.0 rebounds in 606 career games. Joe also played and coached professionally both in the United States and internationally.

“Joe ‘Jellybean’ Bryant was a local basketball icon, whose legacy on the court transcended his journey across Bartram High School, La Salle University, and his first four NBA seasons with the 76ers from 1975-79,” wrote the Sixers said in an issued statement. “Our condolences go out to the Bryant family.”

Joe is now survived by his wife Pam Cox and two daughters Shaya and Sharia.
