Tyler Perry To Write And Direct New Netflix Film ‘Straw’ ; Set To Tell The Story Of A Single Mom Facing Unfortunate Events!

Cousins! Tyler Perry is gearing up to drop some heat for fans following news that he has an upcoming movie in the works with Netflix!

‘Straws’ will follow a single mother undergoing a series of life challenges and unfortunate events reports Variety.

“She becomes entangled in a situation she never imagined and finds herself at the center of suspicion in a world that seems indifferent to her existence,” reads an excerpt from the film’s description.

“Struggling against circumstances beyond her control, she becomes entangled in a situation she never imagined. Fueled by desperation, she finds herself at the center of suspicion in a world that seems indifferent to her existence.”

The movie is set to star fan faves such as Taraji P Henson, Teyana Taylor, Sherri Shepherd, Rockmond Dunbar Mike Merrill Sinbad, and more.

According to the Hollywood reporter, Tyler will write and direct Straw, the film will be featured as part of his multi-year, first-look deal with Netflix. Sources state that shooting will begin in Atlanta.

Following news of Tyler’s upcoming project social media users began to chime in accusing him of recycling storylines in his films. However, others applauded Tyler for spreading awareness of single motherhood.

“Tyler Perry hates black women… a “single mother” narrative, really? if these women had any self respect they’d tell Tyler Perry where to shove his misognoir,” wrote a Twitter ( X) user.

“Tyler knows how to get viewers, the cast, then we give him another no. 1 movie and the cycle never ends. I don’t have a problem with Tyler, just his writing and directing,” wrote another,
