Usher Describes The Drama Surrounding Keke Palmer And Her Boyfriend Darius Jackson As Being A, “Pop Culture Moment”

Cousins! Now that the drama in connection to Keke Palmer’s attendance at Usher’s Las Vegas residency has died down, the legendary singer is sharing his personal take of the ordeal that had social media in a frenzy!

The 44-year-old says that the series of events surrounding Keke and her boyfriend Darius Jackson’s relationship after she attended his ‘My Way’ residency show is a, “pop culture moment,” and that he believes it is worth every discussion.

As we previously reported Darius retweeted a photo of Keke at Usher’s show as the two danced and sang together paired with the comment, “It’s the outfit tho…you a mom tho”.

His comment immediately amplified deeper conversations online as social media users called Darius out for being insensitive to Keke loving her new body after giving birth to their son a few months ago.

“I think everybody’s vision or a version of what they felt happened there just leads you back to just really having a good time in Las Vegas,” Usher said in an exclusive to People. “And that’s what I hope came out of it. Rather, it was a conversation of what was going on with us having fun in front of the audience or conversation about that song.”

A part of Usher’s show he takes to the crowd and shares his microphone with fellow celebrities. He says that he does it to get a natural reaction out of fans as they see some of their favorite public figures enjoying themselves.

“Every night I’m thinking about how the world now is going to react to this moment that I’ll have with whoever I’m choosing to sing to,” he said. “But it was a pop moment, and it was fun to have at least conversation going and we just keep it light. I don’t see anything negative happening in Las Vegas.”

Darius also addresses the backlash he received following his circulated comment. “We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is. This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals for what I believe. I rest my case.”

Though Keke never publicly addressed the ordeal she did share a post on Instagram alongside her son Leodis paired with a video and caption that read, “One thing is certain and one thing is true, IM A MOTHA, through and through!”

“To all my mom’s out there, how did your baby change you??” Palmer questioned. “Mine empowered me! On such another level, my perspective changed because when my baby is good I’m GREAT! Look at that face! Gratitude galore.”
