Cousins! Future is doing his big one in assisting students secure a future of their own, as the rapper has recently opened up a new Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (S.T.E.A.M ) Lab!
According to Black Enterprise Future alongside his Freewishes Foundation has partnered up with 2K Foundations for a soft launch opening of their ‘I Am A Dreamer S.T.E.A.M Lab,’ located a school near his childhood home on Friday May 26th. The newly opened lab will support underserved students with obtaining access to S.T.E.A.M infrastructures. The collaborated partnership’s main initiative is to assist students with gaining access to necessary resources such as technology and further educational materials.
“It’s important that all students receive access to STEAM education regardless of their background,’ said Future within a forwarded statement. “Our Freewishes Foundation, with the support of the 2K Foundations, has helped make this possible in our Atlanta community. We’re thankful for their commitment to support our initiative.”
Future’s sister and the executive director of the Freewishes foundation, Tia Wilburn says, “We are creating a science technology, engineering, art, and mathematics lab as an extension of Freewishes educational initiative. We wanted to add art because both Future and I support creativity.”
She adds, “Our objective in providing educational opportunities is to ensure inclusive and quality education for all students regardless of income and background. There is a major gap in STEM education that impacts marginalized communities, and we want to close that gap so that no child is left behind.”
Reports reads that within the last decade, Future has been able to establish programs through his Freewishes Foundation that promote self-esteem, health and wellness, digital literacy and more. The non-profit organization also provides scholarships, assistance with housing and food.
Prior to the foundation’s advancement Future began by providing free meals to seniors for Thanksgiving to share with their families. The foundation, “has evolved into a versatile non-profit organization that sponsors a wide-range of programs, events and services throughout Atlanta,”reads a statement from the Foundation’s website.
