Cousins! The Memphis police department has officially released footage of five officers seen brutally beating Tyre Nichols to death! 🙏🏿
According to circulating reports Tyre was pulled over earlier this month on January 7th upon claims of reckless driving followed by an alleged confrontation that had occurred. However the department’s chief has confirmed earlier this week that officials could not find any evidence that proved the forwarded accusations to be truthful.
Sadly the 29 year was hospitalized and listed as being in critical condition in result to the stop traffic stop. Three days later Tyre tragically succumbed to his injuries. An independent autopsy determined he “suffered extensive bleeding caused by a severe beating.”
As of Monday January 23rd all five of the officers involved in Nichols’s fatal death; Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Justin Smith, Emmitt Martin and Desmond Mills Jr.– were fired from the department.
On Thursday, the former officers were booked into the county jail and all charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault, two charges of aggravated kidnapping, two charges of official misconduct and one charge of official oppression.
As of Friday evening each of them have been released on bond.
