Cousins! It’s been over ten years since Jordin Sparks released her explosive single ‘No Air’ in collaboration with Chris Brown and we must admit to this very day that specific song still rings off high in our R&B early 2000s playlist!

While taking part in a fun game of “Truth or Drink” with media personality Omar, Jordin spoke candidly for the very first time about her Grammy Award experience back in 2009. Jordin reveals that she had personally learned of Chris viral altercation with Rihanna while on the red carpet and that he had been arrested for brutally attacking her.

‘No Air’ has been nominated for a Grammy that year in which Jordin and Chris did not win.

The 2007 American Idol winner declares that she did not know what was going on and ultimately found out like everyone else. “I found out like everybody else,” said Jordin.

“We were nominated for Best Pop R&B Collaboration. As soon as I stepped foot on that red carpet I had both of the label publicists coming up to me and going ‘you know nothing’.” Jordin continued, “I really didn’t know anything! I didn’t go to Clive’s party.”

“As the night progresses, it’s Google alerts. And more and more people started getting the news about it.And I’m sitting just looking at everyone like ‘I don’t know’.”

Jordin explains, “I was also a kid. I’m 18 years old at this point.” Then, her phone began lighting up with alerts, “I am just like ‘oh my God’ as she waited through all the categories.

She says that she believed they were for sure going to win but following the incident Jordin thinks the higher ups clipped their chance at winning. …the song was huge.”

“I was just so blown, and I just couldn’t believe it.”

A lot of stuff that happened after that was not me,” she continued. “But I think the powers that be had a hand in [it]. That was a really tough time for me because I just didn’t understand. I didn’t get it. I also didn’t know about the ins and outs of the industry and the puppetry and the hands that can go into a lot of things.”
