While slaying the September cover issue of Essence magazine alongside her sister, Halle Bailey gives folks a sneak peek into her series of upcoming projects within film, television and music as well as her love life!
Halle and DDG have been crowned fans favorite new couple on social media in the past couple of months. From date nights, sing offs and even pimple popping the pair are inseparable.
Within the unreleased issue Halle reveals how the two met and how she is in love with the rapper. “I’ve been a fan of his for years. I grew up being on YouTube and would always see the young Black creators and was constantly inspired by them. He was one of them.”
Halle continues, I completely forgot about him. But then I saw that he was dropping music, and I really gravitated toward this one song. Coincidentally he messaged me—and the rest is history.”
The two sparked dating rumors after being spotted together at Usher’s residency concert in Las Vegas last year. Since then they’ve gone public on social media and red carpet appearances.
When asked if she was in love Halle responded, “Yes. For sure I am.”
In response to comments made on regard to her relationship and fear that she’ll get blindsided Halle says, “People have seen me grow up, so of course they might have something to say about how I feel or what I do with my life,” she says. “I just choose not to read it. I ignore the naysayers and follow my own heart and intuition.”
Halle thanks her mother and grandmother for reaching her to remain focus. “‘Make sure you never interrupt your work ethic’” is one of the lessons she says she’s learned.“My business and my work life are the priority, because at the end of the day I want my family and my future children to have a beautiful life. Love is great, and love feels wonderful—but never neglect your work.”
That’s not all for the vocalist and actress, she has landed a starring role in the unreleased live action film the Little Mermaid, a reimagining of Oprah Winfrey’s The Color Purple as well as new music.
