The 2022 MTV VMAs is definitely going to be one for the books following recent announcements that Nicki Minaj is set to receive the highest honor of the night!

The Queens, New York native will be receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award along with her first performance on the VMA stage in nearly four years. With a total of 5 signature moon-persons already tucked in her holster, Nicki is also nominated for “Best Hip Hop”, at this year’s show.

With this prestigious honor, Nicki will join fellow artists and previous recipients such as Janet Jackson, Missy Elliot, LL Cool J and many more, reports The Root.

Following Monday’s announcement, both Nicki and the VMAS began to trend throughout social media. She also took to her Instagram account to say, “I’m receiving the Video Vanguard Award at the 2022 #VMAs! You DO NOT !!!! I REPEAT!!!! You do NOTTTTTT want to miss my performance – Sunday August 28 at 8p on @MTV 😫🙏🏽🎀💕🫢🔥🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄”

Cousins, the 2022 VMAS is set to go down Sunday, August 28 at 8p.m.ET live from the Prudential Center in New Jersey.
