Actor and musician Jussie Smollett appeared on the Sway In The Morning show to speak upon his upcoming projects as well as the 2019 alleged hate crime incident!
The former Empire star continues to express that he did not stage the controversial attack while further explaining what the message his actions would mean to both the Black and LGBTQIA community if he actually did.
“If I had done something like this, it would mean that I stuck my fist in the pain of Black Americans in this country for over 400 years … It would mean that I stuck my fist in the fears of the LGBTQ community, all over the world.”
Jussie states that he believe people felt betrayed about his story because of how it was served to the public.
“I genuinely thought that people were gonna be like, ‘there’s no way that he did some (stuff) like that.’ I’m just like, ‘Y’all know me,'” he says in regard to his close friends who supported the guilty verdict.

Sway blocking people for questioning why he would turn off the comment section for the Jussie Smollett interview is hilarious

The @RealSway interview of #JussieSmollett is so cringe. It is hard to listen to him sit there and act like some martyr. Sway doesn't push back on him at all either…. What is with our media propping up abusers and liars?? *cough* Amber Heard. *cough* Jussie Smollett…

He goes on to explain that he understands anyone who feels betrayed, however he’s not too found of how people close to him responded.
“I do hold some people accountable for the things that they said, for the things that they did, for the ways that they reacted. Because half of those people should have picked up the … phone and called me, because they had my number, you know, and they didn’t.”
