Netflix is bringing the popular Korean series, ‘Squid Game’ to life in the biggest reality competition ever, with the most contestants and largest cash reward!

Viewers now have the chance to test their abilities through a series of games based on the show – with additional surprises – and without dying, of course. The challenge will have 456 players to compete for the grand total of $4.56 million. The competition series was revealed at the Banff World Media Festival along with a logo and a new teaser trailer.

According to Netflix, recruitment for the first round of Squid Game: The Challenge is now open at SquidGameCasting.com. The series will consist of 10 episodes co-produced betweenStudio Lambert (The Circle) and The Garden, part of ITV Studios, and it will be filmed in the UK.

“Squid Game took the world by storm with Director Hwang’s captivating story and iconic imagery. We’re grateful for his support as we turn the fictional world into reality in this massive competition and social experiment,” said Brandon Ring, Netflix VP of Unscripted and Documentary Series.

The drama currently holds the record as Netflix’s most popular series of all time, with over 1.65 billion viewed hours in only the first 28 days after its release. On June 12, Director Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed the official renewal of Squid Game for Season 2.

In a letter written to fans, writer and director Hwang Dong-hyuk says, “It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year. But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever.”
