Brittney Griner’s Pretrial Detention In Russia Now Extended By Another Month!

A recent update has been issued following the detainment of WNBA all star Brittney Griner and it’s definitely not what we expected!

According to reports from CNN, a Russian court has extended Brittney’s pretrial detention by another month without any further explanation.

As we previously reported, the U.S government is currently considering Brittney wrongfully detained after she was arrested in February following accusation of drug smuggling.

The 31 year old was spotted by Russian airport officials in Moscow after cannabis oil was located in her luggage. Brittney is being accused of smuggling significant amounts of a narcotic substance. If convicted she could face up to 10 years in prison.

Countless social media users, family members and teammates have issued immediate concern of Brittney’s overall well-being, especially with the ongoing war in Ukraine out of fear that she’ll be considered a casualty,

“The officer was able to confirm that Brittney Griner is doing as well as can be expected under what can only be described as exceedingly difficult circumstances,” said Ned Price on a briefing call Friday.

“Regardless of Russian legal proceedings, Brittney Griner has been officially designated as Wrongfully Detained by the U.S. Government and has been held now for 85 days,” said Brittney’s agent Lindsay Colas.

Brittney is said to be held with in a pretrial detention until June 18th.
