Cousins!

Illmatic rapper Nas reposted an iconic 1993 photo of him and Tupac and it unexpectedly landed him right in federal court!

According to Hip Hop Dx, Queensbridge rapper Nas was named in a lawsuit by photographer Al Pereira. Pereira claims the rapper posted the photo of him, Tupac, and Redman outside of Club Amazon in 1993 without permission or licensing the work.

In court documents, Nas re-uploaded the photo in 2020, three years after Pereira registered it for copyright.

Pereira filed his suit back in February of this year and according to Pereira, the value of the photo diminished after Nas posted it on Instagram. Pereira is suing for damages plus an injunction against Nas for using his work.

Besides Nas, Pereira has sued other big names celebs for using his work. In 2017, he sued sisters, Kylie and Kendall Jenner for unlawful use of photographs he took of Pac and The Notorious B.I.G. The little sisters of the Kardashian clan were using the images for a clothing line.

I understand where Pereira is coming from, but don’t you guys think it is harsh, despite Nas being in the photo. Cousins, what are your thoughts?
