Dave Chapelle and the folks of Netflix are keeping the ball rolling with upcoming content despite last year’s cancel culture campaign upon criticism of his “The Closer “ comedy special!
The super streaming service announced on Friday that Chapelle will be hosting and executive producing four upcoming comedy specials grouped under the title of ‘Chapelle’s Home Team, says People magazine.
Reports read that the special will consist of stand-alone shows each featuring a different comedian primarily introduced by Chappelle.
Comedians Earthquake and Donnell Rawlings have been said to be the very first two comics to be featured.
As we previously reported Dave made controversial jokes where he addressed the LBGTQ community.
Despite countless criticism from viewers and Netflix employees the streaming service has vowed to stand with Chappelle.
“…work hard to support their creative freedom — even though this means there will always be content on Netflix some people believe is harmful,” says CEO Ted Sarandos.
While also acknowledging, “I had a group of employees who were definitely feeling pain and hurt from a decision we made. And I think that needs to be acknowledged up front before you get into the nuts and bolts of anything. I didn’t do that.”
