After testing positive for Covid recently and losing majority of his legal team, R.Kelly is currently requesting more time to challenge his previous sex trafficking conviction!

Kelly’s last remaining attorney stood before a federal judge last week, citing that his recent diagnosis had caused a delay in their appeal process.

According to Billboard magazine, the singer had fired most of his legal team that previously represented him after his major loss in September.

It has been indicated that attorneys Devereaux Cannick and Calvin Scholar moved to withdraw from Kelly’s case. Attorneys Nicole Blank Becker and Thomas A. Farinella have filed motion to do the same.

Reports read that Kelly’s request was cleared immediately allowing him a two week extension ending on Feb.17.

As we previously reported Kelly was convicted in September 2021 for countless charges of sex trafficking, criminal conduct, sex exploitation of children and kidnapping paired with racketeering. He is currently facing the possibility of a life sentence.

“It is vitally important that Mr Kelly meaningfully participate in his post-trial defence,” says Jennifer Bonjean in a forwarded request, to US District Judge Ann Donnelly.
