A brand new law is set to go into place at the beginning of 2022 that will require businesses in San Diego to donate edible food to local rescue organizations instead of regularly tossing it out!
The new law has been forwarded with the initiative of increasing overall supply in food organizations and food banks reports CBS8.
The law is identified as Senate Bill 1383, it has been said that it will help assist with the deduction of greens house gas emissions, especially since research claims organic food waste is a direct contributor of carbon dioxide.
Sources confirm that the new order is scheduled to take effect January. 1st, 2022. “…about 35% of all food goes to waste. What we’re trying to do is prevent that. It’s a really great win-win relationship all around. We don’t want food wasted in a landfill. Nobody wants to throw away food so why should we have food thrown away when we can take that perfectly good, edible food and get it to people like our neighbors,” says Chief Supply Chain Officer at Feeding San Diego Patty O’Connor.
Cousins are you here for this new law? Do you think it should go in effect nationwide?
