An Italian man will be facing charges for fraud, after showing up for his Covid vaccine wearing a fake arm. Supposedly, he might have paid hundreds of Euros for the silicone prosthetic and even obtained a health pass!

The bizarre event occurred at a vaccine hub in Biella. A town close to Turin in the northern Piedmont region, according to The Guardian. This comes after Italy announced measures excluding unvaccinated people from social, cultural, and sporting activities.

When the 50-year-old man sat down and lifted his shirt for the health worker to administer the jab, the health worker did not notice anything odd. Despite the silicone arm looking very similar to skin, the health worker looked closer before realizing something was off. Asking the man to take off his shirt, the name-less culprit tried to persuade the health worker to turn a blind eye.

“I felt offended as a professional,” Filippa Bua told La Repubblica. “The color of the arm made me suspicious and so I asked the man to uncover the rest of his left arm. It was well made but it wasn’t the same color.” The man said to her, “Would you have imagined that I’d have such a physique?”

Also, Bua said that she could not see the man’s veins. “At first, I thought I made a mistake, that it was a patient with an artificial arm.” It is not clear if he was wearing a fake arm or a silicone layer over his skin.

The President of Piedmont, Alberto Cirio said in a joint statement  with Luigi Icardi (regional health councilor), “The promptness and skill of the health worker ruined the plans of this person, who will now have to respond to the judiciary.”
