If you own or have an Old Spice or Secret aerosol spray deodorant, then you should throw possibly look into throwing it away! Immediately!

Procter and Gamble have issued a recall for 18 Old Spice and Secret aerosol spray deodorants, because it contains a chemical compound that can potentially cause cancer. 

As reported by Huff Post, the recalled products are listed on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration website. Containing benzene, it is classified as a ‘“human carcinogen” and linked to an increased risk of leukemia and blood cancer. 

Procter and Gamble also added that “daily exposure to benzene would not be expected to cause any health problems”. Also, it states they have not received any reports of “adverse events” containing the benzene products. Yet it is recalling them “out of an abundance of caution”. Benzene is usually used as a solvent in the production of pharmaceuticals or other chemicals.

Benzene also can be found in common products such as cigarettes, glues, cleaning products, paint strippers, gasoline, and exhaust fumes. 

Procter and Gamble will issue a refund to anyone who has purchased the products. If you want to know how to get a refund, it is on the Old Spice and Secret websites.
