One thing for sure, two things for certain Lala Anthony stays booked and busy! Despite dominating a regularly jam pact life of being a co-parent, actress, author and full time entrepreneur; Lala’s tight schedule came to a sudden vault this Summer after being diagnosed with an abnormal heart condition!
In a recently released interview with “Self”, Lala revealed that she endured, “ a lot of scary moments.”
She tells the outlet that she had originally been diagnosed back in 2019 while filming BH90210 in Vancouver. A doctor explained that she was struggling from premature ventricular contractions.
Despite the doctor’s orders for her to go to a hospital Lala insisted on returning home to New York first.
Lala says that she had an electrocardiogram done that showed her heart was beating “30,000 extra beats more than the average person” The Brooklyn native says that she ultimately had to stop taking the prescribed medication because it made her feel,”so tired and out of it”
Fast forward to June 1st she had a crisis where she had to hold on to her fridge in order to stand up. Prior to that Lala kept prolonging seeking help until her son Kiyan stepped in.
“Kiyan was like, ‘Mom, please let them call because you don’t look like yourself,'” she said.
She finally underwent a procedure, called cardiac ablation. Sources confirm that the procedure requires creating tiny scars in the heart, using extremely hot or cold temperatures, in order to block abnormal electrical signals.
“Had it not happened [as an emergency]. I probably would have still just been continuing to put it off, put it off, put it off,” Lala said.
She reveals that because she is of Black and Puerto Rican decent she’d always been hesitant to seek medical assistance.
“We’re just not naturally people that go to doctors,” says Lala. “We can self-diagnose. We’re gonna make some tea. We’re gonna heat up some Vicks.”
Thankfully after the procedure, Anthony’s heart began beating normally.
