Cousins!
Sadly, we live in a world where it is an accepted norm for police and citizens in America to hunt, unjustly murder human beings under the guise of upholding the law, or simply because they are born with more melanin than others.
It comes as no surprise that many Black American parents including, as of recently Jill Scott, are raising children in America’s racial climate, and are contemplating on moving in search of a more evolved human experience.
Ms. Scott is leaning towards the Netherlands, she told the media in a recent interview. According to Travel Noire, the gifted singer stated “It’s terrifying because it doesn’t matter if you have, or you don’t. All that matters is that you’re brown. That’s it. Just to know that he will be on the road, just to know that he will be away from people that love him in a world that will decide whether he’s guilty of something because he’s brown. That’s terrifying. It makes me consider leaving this place often”.
There have been a number of North Americans, who have made a successful journey to the Motherland after much research and expressed an immediate sense of connection and peace they have never felt before. There are many who venture to different parts of the world as well.
The singer-songwriter has Holland at the forefront of her mind, ““We like Holland. They chilling,” she says. “They have great healthcare, they ride their bikes everywhere … people are pretty fit. They speak more than Dutch. Most people […] speak three or four different languages. That’s dope. It’s below sea-level so, the food is well-hydrated.”
