It is always a great thing when mega stars reach back, to lend a helping hand to the community, champion good causes and help shine a spotlight. Throughout his career, we have seen glimpses of Jay-Z’s philanthropic side. Good deeds don’t always get the coverage they deserve and there are countless kind acts that go unmentioned, but that’s ok too.
The Brooklyn native created a criminal justice division under his Roc Nation umbrella, called Team Roc as continues his relentless fight for justice reform.
According to Hip Hop Wired Jay has recently lend his star power to The Innocence Project, a non-profit organization. Team Roc has assisting them in over 1 million dollars to look deeper into cases where wrongful convictions could be at play. Their ultimate goal is to help improve the Wyandotte County justice system, as their focus is Midwest at this particular time.
It was Team Roc who filed a lawsuit in Kansas City against their Police Department this past September, in order to effect change. It was very apparent that the Kansas City Police Department was flagrantly abusing their power. Team Roc helped the public learn what to do, in order to bring about change in their city.
