A North Carolina school shooting has left the area of Winston Salem on an emotional roller coaster following the death of a student!
According to Fox News, the incident took place earlier today around 12:10PM at Mount Tabor High School. Officials were notified that a student was wounded by another student later identified as the gunmen, William Chavis Raynard Miller Jr.
Sources have confirmed that the school went into immediate lockdown.
“Medical responders began life-saving measures and the injured student was transported to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries,” says Winston-Salem police Chief, Catrina Thompson. Chief, Catrina Thompson.
Despite circulating rumors, reports read that one student had been shot and another endured a seizure during the incident.
After the shooting students were escorted by authorities to a local grocery store where they were later reunited with their parents.
“We and the WSPD have secured the campus and are doing everything possible to keep students safe,” reads a tweet from the sheriff’s office during the incident.
“We are actively investigating what happened and will share confirmed information as appropriate.”
