In efforts of assisting students and families facing certain difficulties due to the pandemic Atlanta HBCU ‘s of both Spelman College and Clark University have completely cleared out account balances from the previous school year!
Clark Atlanta announced the news on Friday July 24th that they will be clearing student balances for the 2020 semester as well as Spring and Summer 2021 semesters, reports AJC news.
Sources have confirmed that Spelman followed did the same for their students throughout 2020-2021 academic semesters.
“The past two academic years have been emotionally and financially challenging for you and your families due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Clark Atlanta President George T. French Jr.
“I understand. That is why I am personally thankful for your resilience, perseverance, and ‘find a way or make one’ attitudes.”
According to AJC Spelman has used federal funds to cover the costs of the students outstanding balances. Clark Atlanta has been said to have received more than $16 million in recovery funds from the American Rescue Plan. Spelman has received about $7.4 million.
