A male beach goer has been declared dead following a gruesome shark attack that occurred as he attempted to relieve himself at a local Brazilian ocean!

The incident occurred on Saturday at Piedade Beach as 51 year old Marcelo Rocha Santos had been hanging out with friends.

According to News One Marcelo had been drinking at the time and that there were no bathrooms in the area. The ocean water was described as cloudy before him and his friend entered.

“It was a friend of mine who was in the sea with the person who was attacked,” says bystander and witness Endriano to local reporters.

“Suddenly, he saw the man struggling. There was a lot of blood in the water.”

He continues, “As the beach has no bathroom, I went into the sea to pee. I was beside him [in] the water.” Endriano was left untouched within the attack.

Reports read that the shark bit off Marcelo’s hand and bit a large portion of his thigh. He fell unconscious as his friends dragged him on to the beach. He was then taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It has been indicated that an active lifeguard was on duty at the time of the incident however he did not call the swimmers back to shore because they were not out very far.
