Actress Phylicia Rashad has had the internet in a frenzy for the last 24 hours in regards to her support of Bill Cosby following his release from prison prior to charges of sexual assault!
Along with countless comments made from fans on social media and fellow celebrities, Phylicia’s alma mater of Howard University also chimed in within disagreement of her initial statement.
“Survivors of sexual assault will always be our first priority,” reads a statement from the HBCU on social media.

“While Dean Rashad has acknowledged in her follow-up tweet that victims must be heard and believed, her initial tweet lacked sensitivity towards survivors of sexual assault.”
Bill was released from prison on Wednesday following an overturned court order within his sexual assault conviction; in support of claims that a prosecutor violated an agreement made with another prosecutor in regards to him avoiding jail.
Following the news Phylicia took to social media in a post that read,” FINALLY!! A terrible wrong haha being righted – a miscarriage of justice is corrected.”
The post has since then been deleted following the backlash it received.

She circled back in a statement that read, “My post was in no way intended to be insensitive to their truth,” she wrote in the subsequent tweet.”Personally, I know from friends and family that such abuse has lifelong residual effects. My heartfelt wish is for healing.”
