Cousins!

Just hours before ex officer Derek Chauvin is set to receive his sentencing for the murder of George Floyd, a Minnesota judge has denied his request for a new trial!

The ruling came from the defense’s failure to prove that Chauvin’s right to a fair trial was denied and that the state had engaged in prosecution misconduct reports NBC News.

As we previously reported Chauvin’s attorney Eric Nelson argued that the judge’s decision to not change the location of the trial played a factor.

He argued that the trial’s level of publicity pressured jurors,”intimidation of the defense’s expert witnesses,” escalated “the potential for prejudice.”

The defense team argues that the jury, “ committed misconduct, felt threatened or intimidated, felt race-based pressure during the proceedings, and/or failed to adhere to instructions during deliberations.”

Chauvin is currently facing the possibility of 30

years in prison his lawyer is pushing for probation. Cousins stick with us for updates.
