Breaking news has confirmed that Brooklyn Center officer responsible for the senseless murder of Minneapolis resident Daunte Wright has officially resigned!
According to TMZ the officer identified as Kim Potter forwarded a direct written statement to to Mayor Mike Elliott on Tuesday as well assist, Acting City Manager Reggie Edwards and Police Chief Tim Gannon.
The letter reads, “ I have loved every minute of being a police officer and serving this community to the best of my ability, but I believe it is in the best interest of the community, the department, and my fellow officers if I resign immediately.”
Sources have confirmed that Mayor Elliott has announced Chief Gannon is also stepping down.
The released video of the incident shows the final moments as Potter screamed out the words “ TASER” but released a single bullet into Daunte’s chest with an identified gun.
Daunte was pronounced dead on the scene with police officials claiming the incident was an accident.
Residents have began to protest since early Monday as they demand justice for Daunte’s life. Reports read there’s been a 7PM curfew set in place as officials claim the city is in a state of unrest.
