The state of Utah has recently been named the first state to legally require biological fathers to pay half of a woman’s pregnancy costs out of pocket!

According to NBC News, the bill has been forwarded in efforts of decreasing the burden of pregnancy on women and advocate for the increase of responsibility for men with children.

Reports show that the new law has received criticism as citizens argue that it won’t help women as it could possibly create a hostile and abusive situation.

Sources have confirmed that the news was announced through the Parenthood inc association.

States including Wisconsin and New York have provisions that can also result in fathers being held financially responsible for pre-birth costs.

The bill was signed by Republican Gov. Spencer Cox.

“We want to help people and actually be pro-life in how we do it as opposed to anti-abortion,” says Republican Rep. Brady Barmier.

“One of the ways to help with that was to help the burden of pregnancy be decreased.”
