Cardi B Settles Ongoing Legal Battle With Former Manager, “Feels Good To Be Free”

Cousins!

The regular shmegular girl from The Bronx Cardi B is ending her year with a major win as she celebrates the official settlement of an ongoing legal battle with her former manager!

The dispute erupted in 2018 when Cardi’s former manager Shaft sued her for a cool $10 million dollars, reports TMZ.

Shaft forwarded claims that once Cardi’s career began to truly take off with the success of her hit single Bodak Yellow, she had moved on without him.

Sources have confirmed that Shaft insisted his team of producers and writers wrote Bodak Yellow , that he helped her land a spot on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop and that he never received proper compensation for any of it. He also claims that his efforts helped make Cardi a mainstream artist.

In response to his claims Cardi countersued Shaft for $15 million dollars. She states that the original contract she signed with him was unfair and completely one sided.

The Grammy award winning rapper pointed out that Shaft required way too much money out of her earnings. Reports read that he originally wanted 20% commission and then 50% from Cardi’s Sony publishing deal. She even stated he tried to control areas of her personal life including who she dated.

Court documents obtained from AllHipHop read, “This action, including all claims and counterclaims, is hereby dismissed in its entirety with prejudice against all parties. The parties have further agreed that all parties to this action shall bear their own costs and attorney’s fees.”
