On the 65th year anniversary of #EmmettTill ‘s horrific murder the ABC network has officially approved production of a six part miniseries portraying his mother’s life!
The series will depict Emmett’s mother Mamie Till Mobley’s life following her son’s unjustifiable murder at only 14 years old at the hands of racists within the #JimCrow south.
According to Deadline , “ Women of the movement” was created by writer Marissa Jo Cerar alongside the production team that includes industry heavyweights Sean #JayZ Carter and #WillSmith.
“Today marks 65 years since the tragic murder of 14-year-old Emmett Till. This limited series will shine a light on the determined pursuit of justice by Emmett’s mother, Mamie Till Mobley,” states Karey Burke, president, ABC Entertainment.
She continues, “Their story involves inconceivable heartbreak and brutality but also the enduring love of a mother and her son, galvanizing a movement that carved the path for today’s racial justice movement. We are honored to be bringing their story to ABC backed by an all-star producing team.”
