#DonaldTrump has taken the time out from his exceedingly busy Twitter career to announce that he is currently working towards banning the popular social media platform of #TikTok from operating within the US!
According to The Hill, Trump stated on Friday, “As far as TikTok is concerned, we’re banning them from the United States.”
Sources have confirmed that Trump has said that he will use emergency economic action under an executive order to ban the Chinese owned company within the US. Further stating that he will not allow any American companies to acquire TikTok.
Reports read that a spokesperson for TikTok has recently come forward to highlight not only the mass involvement and investment multiple Americans have within the brand but to say that they aren’t going anywhere.
“TikTok US user data is stored in the US, with strict controls on employee access. TikTok’s biggest investors come from the US,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “We are committed to protecting our users’ privacy and safety as we continue working to bring joy to families and meaningful careers to those who create on our platform.”
It has been indicated that the executive order was to go in effect as early as Saturday afternoon, however the application is still fully accessible.
