With the current and historical climate of society, we can’t stress enough the importance that each vote makes within the upcoming 2020 election. Within efforts of utilizing his platform to display the detrimental action of voting, Los Angeles Laker star player #LeBronJames is stepping to the plate to make a change!
According to Black Enterprise LeBron and various athletes have paired up to establish a charitable organization designed to protect black peoples right to vote.
The campaigns of More Than A Vote and Florida Rights Restoration Coalition have joined forces to properly secure the voting rights of former Florida felons.
Sources have confirmed that More Than A Vote is raising a total of $100,000 deriving directly from the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition (FRRC)’s fines and fees fund program. It has been indicated that the funds will be utilized to provide financial help to former Florida felons who have been ordered to pay exceedingly high fees and fines connected to felonies.
“We believe that your right to vote shouldn’t depend upon whether or not you can pay to exercise it, which is why More Than A Vote is proud to partner with the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition to ensure that formerly incarcerated American citizens—many of them Black and brown—are able to pay their outstanding fines and fees and register to vote in the 2020 election and beyond,” states Udonis Haslem of the Miami Heat.
